Who Is Going Down? Tips On The Contenders By MyBookie.ag

For many English football fans there is not much left to shout for or about this season. Most League teams have completed their seasons. Only the Premier League and play-offs are still active. If your team's season is done and dusted then one way of spicing up the remainder of the season is to have a punt on the outcome of the few positions still up for grabs. If you are new to betting don't worry. Check this out to learn more about betting lines if you are unfamiliar with the terminology used. Now all you need to do is decide who to back.

With only one full round of Premier League games to go, almost all of the key positions have been decided. Chelsea are champions, the top four are confirmed, and Burnley and Queen's Park Rangers will be playing Championship football next season. There are two big issues left to decide. Which two teams will be joining Aston Villa in the Europa League, and which team will be joining Burnley and QPR in the Championship. With the greatest respect to the Europa League, the battle to avoid the drop is the one that will grab attention and headlines. It is also the hardest to predict.

At the time of writing there are three teams still fighting to avoid filling the last relegation spot. Sunderland, Newcastle United and Hull City have the unpleasant task of sweating over their Premier League survival. Last weekend's results saw Leicester City and Aston Villa join those who have already secured survival, despite neither winning their respective games. We are down to three.

On paper Sunderland look the safest. They could very well already have enough points in the bag. It would take an extremely unlikely combination of events to relegate the Black Cats. Unlikely but not impossible.

Blackburn go down to the Championship along with Wolves:

Today's EPL Result:

Blackburn Rovers 0 Wigan 1

Blackburn have been relegated to the Championship for the first time in 11 years.

Defender Antolin Alcaraz scored the only goal of the match in the 87th minute from a header.

Late winner: Alcaraz heads home for Wigan in the 87th minute to give them 3 points against Blackburn.

Where will players such as Junior Holiett, Yakubu, Paul Robinson and Morten Gamst Pedersen go?

QPR meanwhile need to beat Manchester City next Sunday if they are to ensure that they stay in the EPL next season.

Bolton are also in trouble, and have to beat Stoke City and hope QPR fail to get anything against City if they do not want to get relegated.

Wigan have confirmed that they stay in the PL next season, after winning 6 out of their last 8 matches.

All the relegation permutations can be seen here.

That Sinking Feeling!

I predict a riot! With the start of the season only a few days away its all kicking off! The amount of money spent has reached upwards of £269,075,000!

With all this dosh being spent by 'The Big Boys' The other teams located up and down the country have been looting other clubs for any freebees they can get their hands on! Stoke snapping up former England international Jonathan Woodgate from Spurs, Sunderland have taken Westwood, Larsson & David Vaughan without even spending a penny! The QPR management team have also been @ it! Walking out of Upton Park with Welshman Danny Gabbidon & Kieron Dyer under their arms! While Neil Warnock was photographed taking Jay Bothroyd for a spin in his new bright pink Bugatti Veyron, next thing you know Bothroyd's pictured in the QPR team photo!

Bank Holiday Monday

The Easter bank holiday weekend is always a crucial weekend in the football calendar. This year, with East coming so late in the season, it seems it could be even more crucial than usual. We have already seen quite a few issues decided - especially in the Southern Premier League where all the promotion and play-off places were secured, and all but one relegation spot was decided over the weekend. We have also seen Arsenal finally giving up the possibility of becoming champions in the Premier League and an Old Firm derby that.....well, it didn't really decide anything, but it added to the excitement.

Today it is the turn of the football league and the blue square leagues to take centre stage. There could be quite a few exciting developments in the promotion, play-off and relegation fights - most notably at Loftus Road where QPR could secure promotion to the Premier League with a win against Hull City. Today could be a great day to visit some of the blogs of the football league and non-league clubs to catch up on what the fans are saying about this exciting stage of the season.
