Iñigo Martínez: Spain's New Scorer of Great Goals

There are great goalscorers and scorers of great goals. Spain has had many of both in its time, with Real Madrid legend Raúl and current Barcelona hitman David Villa instantly springing to mind as great goalscorers for the current World and European champions. A scorer of great goals however, is someone who may not be a regular on the score-sheet but when they do make trouble the back of the net it is usually in memorable fashion.

Iñigo Martínez - who he? - is fast becoming one of the latter, thanks to the spectacular start to his professional career. The 20 year old Basque born central defender has only been promoted to Real Sociedad's first team squad this season and introduced himself to the fans with this unforgettable strike from his own half against fierce local rivals Athletic Bilbao:
